Parent Space

Parent Space offers group sessions for any parent who would like advice, support and information related to SEND, inclusion, mental health and wellbeing. The sessions are led by Mrs O'Brien (Inclusion & Wellbeing lead) who is the school's SEND coordinator and Senior Mental Health Lead, and Emma Batley-Kyle (Parent Support Worker).  They offer a chance to meet for coffee to chat, share information and find out more about the support which is available for children and families in school and in the local area.

When arriving for meetings, we ask parents to please sign in at the school office and wait in the entrance for Mrs O’Brien.

Who can I contact for further information about SEND in school?

PCAN - Parents and Carers of Children with Additional Needs

PCAN is an independent, parent led forum for all parents and carers of children/young people (aged 0-25 years) with additional needs in Kirklees.  PCAN welcomes any parent or carer, whether they are just becoming aware that their child may have additional needs or whether they have a child with a confirmed diagnosis. PCAN cover all additional needs including but not limited to Anxiety, Mental health, Autism, ADHD and all medical issues. We are a voluntary organisation run by Trustees and a small team of paid staff who are all parents of children with additional needs.

PCAN provides information and signposting to help parent carers and their children access support and activities. Parents have an opportunity to meet and network with other parent/carers to offer and receive Peer support through events and social media. We also work with local service providers to ensure that parents have their say in the design and delivery of local services for their children.

Please find attached the dates of upcoming PCAN Cuppa and Chat sessions across Kirklees.  Parents are invited to come and meet people who ‘get it’. Share stories and hear from others, have a good natter and a laugh. Swap tales of disaster and success and maybe pick up some useful information along the way.
